PMASUP305 – OPERATE OFFSHORE CRANES
Objective
Crane operators will be made aware and informed of the latest developments in the industry including reviewing actual incidents to enhance awareness and the effectiveness of risk assessment, task planning and management of change.
With the aid of the simulator providing a virtual offshore environment, the course exposes the participants to extreme conditions and emergency situations to test and improve their responses in a safe and controlled environment.
Participants
The course is designed for participants either currently working in an offshore lifting team or wishing to enter the industry with the basic skills and knowledge required to perform confidently and safely.

PMASUP305 Operate Offshore Cranes
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for PMASUP305 – Operate Offshore Cranes will be issued by Trainwest (RTO# 51807), upon successful completion of the course.
Career Opportunities/Pathways
This unit of competency may lead to employment in the offshore oil and gas industry.
On completion students may undertake further studies toward the completion of the PMA30116 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations or PMA40116 Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology. Perth Simulation staff are available to discuss further training options with course participants.
Course Pre-requisites
Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to attend this course.
There are no pre-requisites for the unit of competency PMASUP305 – Operate Offshore Cranes, however previous experience in offshore lifting operations would be beneficial.
Some work sites require operators to hold a Tower Crane (CT) high risk license.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
This unit requires the ability to read and interpret typical product specifications, job sheets, procedures, material labels and safety information as provided to operators. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms. Numeracy is required to calculate loads and estimate balance points for slinging.
You may be required to undertake a LL&N test.
Assessment & Competency Achievement
This course includes written tests, projects and practical simulator observations. All participants will be assessed on performance and understanding using assessment tools aligned to the unit of competency PMASUP305 – Operate Offshore Cranes.
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the PMASUP305 – Operate Offshore Cranes will be issued by Trainwest (RTO# 51807), upon completion of the course.

This course fee includes lunch, and morning and afternoon tea at the center.
